2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

I bought this car new in October 2001 and picked it up from the National Corvette Museum – next door to the assembly plant. The car was well cared for during it’s short stay at the museum – even getting a place on the museum floor for my arrival. They went over all of the features of the car with me before I got to take it for my first drive. The best part was that by the time I arrived back home in Texas, the break in period was over.
Believe it or not, I get more compliments on the color than the car; Electron Blue Metallic, a color that varies depending on the sunlight. It can go from a fairly light blue in bright light to a deep blue as it gets darker. I have added a set of chrome wheels to the car which really make the color pop!
The car comes straight out of the box with 405 horsepower and 400
lb/ft of torque. More than enough power and acceleration for a daily
driver. And more than enough power to keep you paying attention while
driving. However, even though it can be a real beast, it is very
civil around town. If you are gentle on the throttle (which is pretty
hard to do) you can even get up to 28 mpg on the highway.
Compared to a stock Corvette I have an extra 55 horsepower (with the LS6 engine over the stock LS1), a stock 6 speed transmission with different gears, front and rear brake cooling ducts, wider lightweight wheels and a titanium exhaust system.
Here is Chevrolet’s assessment of the performance potential of this car: “Zero-to-60 in under four seconds. Lateral acceleration of 1 g. And a top speed that has exceeded over 170 mph on a test track.”
Basically, this is one fast car!
