2004 International Motorcycle Show :: Dallas
11/20/2004
The usual theme of our bike show forays is trying to find one that fits me (5'1" tall). Since I finally gave up finding one that fit and just lowered the one I bought, we didn't concentrate on that this time. I did sit on quite a few, though, and as usual fit on none of the sportbikes, except for one surprise: the Yamaha R1. It is so narrow that I could get toes down on both sides, and it's so light I could get it upright.
This year's show was a little different for me since I bought a bike in April. I was a bit nervous because what if I found a bike I liked better than mine or one that fit? Well, after looking at all of them, my Speed Four is still my favorite. I loved the Triumph Speed Triple, but it's just too much bike for me. But dang the new one is sweet looking! I also loved the MV Augusta Brutale, but well, I'd have to love it more than my Audi to afford it.
Kudos to the MV Augusta booth for being really friendly, and boo to the Triumph booth for putting all the new models behind bars or up on stands where we couldn't sit on them. Boo to Triumph again for sending me a catalog of bike accessories, and not selling one single accessory for the Speed Four. Take me off your mailing list, please!
